The Center of Excellence on Elder Abuse and Neglect at the UC Irvine School of Medicine, Program in Geriatrics, is committed to eliminating the abuse and mistreatment of our community's elders.
Locally, the Center of Excellence on Elder Abuse and Neglect provides medical, forensic, and victim services to abused, neglected and exploited seniors, both living in the community or long-term care facilities and serves as a "living laboratory" of innovative approaches.
Statewide, the Center of Excellence on Elder Abuse and Neglect serves as a central source of technical assistance, multidisciplinary training, useful research, and relevant policy issues in California. Our goal is to eliminate abuse, neglect, mistreatment and exploitation of seniors on every level.
Nationally, UCI’s Center serves as the National Center on Elder Abuse, an federal Administration on Aging-funded clearinghouse on information related to elder abuse, neglect and exploitation (www.ncea.aoa.gov). Providing technical assistance, training curricula, research findings, and other materials, the National Center is the national authority on elder abuse in the U.S.
