The Center of Excellence on Elder Abuse and Neglect at the UC Irvine School of Medicine's Program in Geriatrics is committed to eliminating the abuse and mistreatment of our community's elders.
Locally, the center provides medical, forensic and victim services to abused, neglected and exploited seniors living in the community or in long-term care facilities. The center also is a "living laboratory" of innovative approaches to preventing elder abuse.
Statewide, the center serves as a resource of technical assistance, multidisciplinary training, useful research and relevant policy issues in California. Our goal is to eliminate abuse, neglect, mistreatment and exploitation of seniors on every level.
We also serve as the U.S. clearinghouse of information on elder abuse, neglect and exploitation for the National Center on Elder Abuse, the national authority on elder abuse. With funding from the U.S. Administration on Aging, we provide technical assistance, training curricula, research findings and other materials.
